I've been toying with some possible events that could be enjoyable to play.

One such suggestion is the "Floor is Lava" event.

Everyone knows how the game works - you have to avoid touching the floors (and probably the walls based off the way I think it would be coded). You would have to stand on props (ones that can be destroyed) and avoid the floor at all times.

I've thought of two ways this could run:

    1) Everyone is given a poltergeist that deals no damage, has infinite ammo but slow fire-rate. You shoot at the props people are standing on, and they start bouncing around and eventually break. If you touch the floor / walls, you take some damage constantly (e.g. 10-20 hp a second). Last one standing wins.

    OR

    2) Similar to the mini-game on that-map-where-you-try-to-not-fall-to-death-to-win-a-knife, props randomly start being removed until only a few props remain. If you are on the floor / touching a wall, you take some damage constantly (probably a bit less than #1, because it's random). Last one standing wins.

In my mind, this event would only be trigger-able by an admin because it would only work on some maps that have a fair amount of props.

This was just a thought that came into my mind, I could probably code it but I don't have any example code / wiki to figure out how the events are written.

I think that this is a really interesting idea! What if the players also got more powerful crowbars to push people with? They would do no damage but would help push people off props and then allow someone else to step on.

I'd really love this to be a thing, but I can see some maps having issues with this, like I have, and I'm sure you have as well Feldma, seen some examples where the coders got lazy and included some furniture and/or props as the floor grouping. Also, any ideas on how we could tell the difference between what is "lava" and what it safe? I mean, besides the obvious texture change to a lava basic?
People love the floor drop minigame in one of the maps (can't remember the name), I think this event might be pretty fun for all who like that minigame

I wasn't actually planning on making the floor look like lava. I'm not entirely certain how I would do that.
Currently, if the prop moves, you can stand on it safely.

I'm not actually sure if the event will function in a good way though. I'll see how I go with it.

I like the idea a lot. I can imagine some maps like lego would be pretty nice but other maps like dolls for instance only have like 4 props in total (in the dollhouse) it seems pretty difficult. It probably wouldnt work on a map like hoosens moonarbase either with low gravity being a factor.

Ladders might be an issue as well, its pretty hard to get pushed off them and they arent technically on the ground. (however I think you said stay off walls as well?)

Also would water count as being the ground if you are floating in it? (Might be easy question to answer but I have no experience in gmod code)

I know you usually find ways around things and another event that people might want to play that isn't headshot war or stalker gets me excited, so good luck! I hope I didn't put you off or anything

I'm not sure how I'm actually going to code it. I've done the basics but getting object detection may not work properly.

It would also be a round only triggerable by admins.
